1. The Justice Reinvestment Coalition Will Help 1,400 Formerly Incarcerated Residents Find County Jobs. [via Afrikan Black Coalition]

The Justice Reinvestment Coalition, which is composed of 15 organizations, launched its Jobs for Freedom campaign in May 2016. The campaign focuses on increasing state funding for jobs rather than jails. A couple months later, the Coalition announced that Alameda County agreed to providing 1,400 jobs to formerly incarcerated residents. This is a huge win, as formerly incarcerated persons face many obstacles once being released from prison. By giving formerly incarcerated folks jobs, it will help reduce the recidivism rate.

2. Black Transwoman Deeniquia Dodds Murdered in Washington D.C. [via NBC Washington]

Last year, at least 23 Transgender women and gender nonconforming persons were killed. It breaks our heart to hear that another Trans woman’s life has been taken by senseless violence.

3. #BlackLivesMatter Protests Erupt in Israel, Ethiopians Call for End to Racism. [via SF BayView]

Ethiopian Jews have been protesting racism by the Israeli government, citing racial profiling, police murder, and injections that have reduced the Ethiopian birth rate. It is clear that the Black Lives Matter movement is global, as anti-Blackness has no borders.
